Bylaw Change – Addition of Sponsored Division – Flag Football

This year’s AOS Ballot includes a Bylaw change approval. You will be asked to approve whether or not AOS should add a new Sponsored Division for Flag Football.  The addition of this division would require amendment of the Bylaws to Article III, Section 2, Point 10 to add the following verbiage:

The Flag Football Vice-President shall assist the President, preside over meetings in the Flag Football Division, serve as the general program chairman for the Football Division, and maintain meeting attendance records for the Flag Football Division.

And the addition of the following verbiage to Article III, Section 7:

The term for each Elected Officer shall be two years and begins with the announcement of their election at the Annual Meeting. In even numbered calendar years, the following offices shall be elected: Football VP, Basketball Board Member, Membership Chairperson, Secretary, and Football Assignment Advocate. In odd numbered calendar years, the following offices shall be elected: Basketball VP, Flag Football VP, Football Board Members, Treasurer, President, and Basketball Assignment Advocate (if required).

And the addition of the following Verbiage to Article – IV – Sponsored Divisions:

AOS shall have a Football, Flag Football and Basketball Division, each created for the purpose of supporting their respective sports by holding Regular Meetings and maintaining: a Top 15 list (if available from the IHSA), an Observer Program; and a Mentor Program.

If the above Bylaw change is approved by the membership, there is also a board position nomination for the Flag Football VP below.

Board of Directors Election

The incumbent board members in positions President, Treasurer, Football Board Member, Basketball Vice-President, Football Assignment Chairman are all running unopposed. If the above Bylaw change is approved, the Flag Football VP is also running unopposed.
